What We Do

Siggen translator residences

Together with the Goethe-Institut, we offer translators from Europe the opportunity to spend four to eight weeks in a guest apartment at Gut Siggen in a quiet working atmosphere, working on the translation of a work of German-language literature.

The scholarship

The foundation covers the costs of travel to and from the Siggen estate and provides meals during the stay. In addition, the Goethe-Institut pays the selected translators a stipend of 1,500 euros.

Who can apply?

Translators from Europe can apply for the residency. Prerequisites are at least two major published translations and a publishing contract for the translation to be worked on during the residency in Siggen.

Please note: In 2023, only one residency can be offered in the period from the beginning of October to the end of November.
